Services & Online Access
Shabbat Services and Streaming
The LJS holds weekly Shabbat services on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings, with additional festivals throughout the year.
Friday Shabbat services start at 6.45pm, and Saturday Shabbat services at 11.00am.
Coffee, tea and biscuits are served prior to the Shabbat morning service. Following the service, there is Kiddush and this is a lovely opportunity to meet in person with other members of the congregation.
Our services are now run fully as hybrid, so that they can be watched live on the LJS YouTube channel. Please see 'Streaming on YouTube' below.
The LJS services are led by the rabbis and members of the congregation, who use the Liberal Judaism prayer books: Siddur Lev Chadash for Shabbat, and Machzor Ruach Chadashah for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. During the services, the prayers are projected onto the walls of the Sanctuary and are uploaded onto YouTube so that all the services can be followed with ease.
There are many opportunities for members to be involved in leading the prayers in both Hebrew and English. Music plays a really important part in our services and is led by a wonderful professional choir, and frequently by the LJS members’ choir.
Visitors are welcome to join us for our services, with the only exception being the High Holy Day services when tickets are required. If you are visiting for the first time, please bring identification with you for security reasons, and please notify the office in advance on 020 7286 5181 so you can be assured of a warm welcome.
Please read our current Covid advice here.
We also welcome groups interested in learning more about Judaism and about our stunning Sanctuary and unique Shoah memorial.
