LJS Kristallnacht Commemoration with guest speaker Sir Anish Kapoor

Tuesday 9 November 2021

7.00 – 8.00pm at the LJS and via Zoom

Register here to attend in person or via Zoom

You are invited to join us, in person if you are able to, as we mark the 25th anniversary of the dedication service for the LJS Shoah Memorial and commemorate the November Pogrom of 9 November 1938.

We are honoured to be joined by Sir Anish Kapoor as our guest speaker. Sir Anish will be introduced by LJS member Jeremy Lewison, former Director of Collections at Tate.

Sir Anish Kapoor is the artist commissioned by the LJS in the 1990s to create the extraordinarily moving sculpture in the front foyer of the LJS in memory of victims of the Shoah.

The main subject of his talk will be ‘how does an artist conceptualise and create the unimaginable?’ The evening will take place in the Sanctuary and will also include words and music, ending with the Memorial Prayer and Kaddish. Congregants will have the opportunity to spend a time round the Shoah Memorial.
