The Liberal Jewish Synagogue

Life Cycle Events

An integral part of the LJS is the celebration of events which involve rituals, customs and traditions that have been passed down through the generations.

Circumcision

The birth of a child is a cause for rejoicing, as it represents the hope of continuity. Chief among the symbols is the rite of circumcision for a male child. The LJS can put parents in touch with a medically-qualified mohel to perform the operation, even where one of the parents is not Jewish, if it is their intention to bring up their son in the Jewish faith.
